To write or not to write...oh, and Family

When I find myself not reading, I also find myself not writing. When work is busy or I have a lot of travel, there is remarkably no comfort in reading, just another thing on my to do list. Or at least that what it seems...until I am in the book! Then I can't put it down and I'm up until 3am to finish it. Funny enough, holidays are not good times for reading. As you can imagine, there is just too much going on and too much to try and fit in. But when my family decided to come to the south Georgia sea islands for 6 weeks, I decided to visit as much as I could, relax and read.

I did ok. Not great. We had a big family holiday gathering for a belated 70th birthday celebration for my dad. Not much reading happening that weekend, but it was tons of fun with everyone. Also loud because there are now 8 grandchildren from ages 2 months to 10 and one more due in a couple weeks.

So what did I read? Beach reading...Mary Kay Andrews. What a hoot. She writes about the south, mostly Savannah or the Carolinas. I think I read three of them. I got halfway through the newest addition in the Dragon Tattoo series, which I am enjoying. I wish they would finish making the American version of the Swedish films, which were excellent, because although they are graphic, they are also compelling. I read "The Rosie Project," which I hear is being made into a movie from the book that came out in 2013-14. Quirky story about an Australian professor with Asberger's who doesn't know he has it and his quest for a wife. There were some others too but I've already moved on to the next stack of books I have and in between, I read a lot of picture books to children. :)

Down here, winter is pretty much over and we're on to Spring. Hope your Spring (and/or spring break) is also delightful.
